SAMMY

Ever since Sammy could pick up a pencil she’s had a love for drawing all things animal or plant-related. These elements have always been her greatest source of inspiration. This led Sammy to study Fine Art at Elam at the university of Auckland. Soon after that she moved to the UK where she gathered further inspiration from British museums and galleries.
Upon her return to NZ, Sammy worked at Auckland Zoo before starting a tattoo apprenticeship under the careful guidance of Sam Clayton at Ink Rush, where she learnt a wide range of styles and techniques. She went on to work with Minnie at Mira, where she has started to develop a style of her own, primarily focussing on black & grey, illustrative tattoos.
Sammy’s tattoo art is inspired by growth within nature, and she leans toward designs that allow for an organic flow with the body. She also enjoys doing simple, fine-line script and minimalist designs. Sammy’s goal is to create a comfortable experience for each client, where they can feel empowered by their decision to decorate their skin. What she loves about tattoos is whether big or small, they embody a personal narrative that belongs entirely to the wearer.
