FINN
Finn has a passion for creating surrealist illustrative work ranging from abstract concepts to pop culture both in and out
Mira first opened its doors at the start of 2020, in one of Auckland’s iconic boatsheds in Orakei. We have since moved to our beloved home in Titirangi where we have been since 2022.
Since I (Minnie) began tattooing, I have always wanted to create a space that felt homely and welcoming, where artists and clients could come together and create in a peaceful, safe, and friendly atmosphere. That is what Mira is to our team and what I hope it is for all of our clients.
Our studio is open to all people, all bodies, all genders, and all walks of life. We aim to make sure everyone feels at home and enjoys their experience with us.
The name ‘Mira’ was inspired by my late Gran. Even though she didn’t understand tattoo culture in the least, she was always a big supporter of my chosen career and my goal of opening a studio. She would send me random newspaper clippings in the post of anything remotely tattoo related from her local paper. The thought she put in to things like this always meant so much to me.
The word Mira has several meanings, including ‘peace’, ‘ocean’, ‘wonder’ and ‘powerful woman’. My Gran was a force for peace (even writing a book on world peace and organizing several peace rallies). She loved the ocean and all things natural and beautiful. She was also an incredibly powerful woman! When she passed, her inheritance enabled me to open the studio and so she continues to support me to this day. The name Mira is to honor her.
Our team of artists all come from different backgrounds and have a varied range of artistic influences. We specialize in fine line tattoos, realism and black and grey work amongst other styles. A love of art and creating beautifully designed tattoos, placed to compliment the body is something we all share. Meeting new people and getting to know repeat clients is an awesome part of our jobs we all love too!
Being entrusted to permanently decorate someone’s skin is a privilege for which we are grateful to have and take seriously. We are committed to providing our clients with precise, clean, artistic pieces which will stand the test of time.
For us, tattooing is a skill that you never stop learning. No matter how long you do it, you can still improve, grow and explore new and different things. This keeps our jobs interesting and ensures we always strive to produce the best work possible.
We hope to see you in the studio soon!
